Re fixed leads

Recently a big common has been freed from a tangle of line attached to a tree. On one huge length of line was a fixed lead that would not have come off. In total six leads were found as well as over 100m of line !!!  This was on Willow Walk Lake. Please do not be upset if you are asked to bring in your lines so that Ian can check your rigs. The welfare of the fish is paramount and it is clearly stated in the rules that fixed leads are not allowed.  Please do not jeopardise your membership by contravening the fishery rules.

Also please note that only either barbless or microbarb hooks are permitted.

12/7/15 Good fishing on all lakes

Coot Lake Lots of fish out this week. Notable catches were Chris and son Josh who had 15 carp between them, including a PB common of 18lb 4oz for Josh.

Willow Walk has produced some mid to high twenties this week as well as a 30lb+ caught by Dave. Callum has had the fully-scaled recently on it’s way back up at over 27lb after spawning. He also had the big linear again at 27lb 8oz. Adam had  the two-tone common at 29lb 6oz as well as another twenty plus. There have been several other twenties out as well as doubles.

Virginia has also fished well. Jeff had four twenties out and had already had a 29lb 2oz common on his recent visit. Nathan was delighted with his 30lb 2oz common backed up by three doubles and a 21lb 12oz common. Gary had commons of 23lb and 28lb. It is nice to see members fishing the recently cleared swims alongside the stock ponds and catching.  Paul had a 25lb 7oz out of there. We have seen lots of carp along this bank of Virginia and have been feeding these swims so might be worth a go.

Pingree’s has produced a few fish as well -mainly twenties. Ben had a 20lb common.

6/7/15 Round up

There have been multiple catches from all areas of Coot Lake. Simon had thirty carp in an overnight session as well as a huge bream. John stayed a while and had thirty one carp including a PB common for Coot of 24lb 1oz. These are just two examples of how well this lake is fishing at the moment.

Willow Walk has produced a lot of mid to high twenties as well as a 36lb cat caught by Mark.

Virginia too has produced many twenties as well as some high double stockies which seem to be doing really well.  I know Rob had a 26lb and Jeff a 24lb and a 22lb. but understand one angler had nine carp out and another six but have no details.

Ben fished Pingree’s and had a spawned out common of 26lb-one he had previously had at 31lb. as well as two other carp, one of 22lb and one double. Joel also had a 20+ as well as carp from Virginia.

On Tuesday 23rd June the local scout group will be doing one of their badges, by clearing some paths and swims. We plan to let them work on the track between Virginia and the growing on ponds as this is usually not occupied by anglers. They will be there between 7pm and 9pm. They will also be there Tues 29th June and Tues 6th July being instructed in basic angling skills by some EA instructors. We hope that members will be forbearing and understanding as this is a worthwhile community based activity which shouldn’t cause any undue inconvenience. Of course, if anyone feels they would like to help and bring a swim rake, loppers etc then any extra hands would be most welcome.
